You were behind me, waiting for the sink
I’d never been to a bar with a community washbasin
When you opened your mouth,
I thought you would say, β€œHi, my name’s Jason.”

Instead, you said, β€œNeed a hand?”
I laughed in a way I hadn’t in ages
Who offers to help someone wash their hands?
You reached from behind me and wiped the smudges.

There were smudges on the mirror.
β€œThere”, you said, β€œnow you can see that beautiful face.”
Stunned, I moved backwards right into you
I was trying to get away, but I stepped right into your space

You flipped the towel over your shoulder and smiled
I’ve always been a sucker for a handsome grin
My mind was racing. All I could think of was
how I had just promised to work on myself within

You turned and walked toward the bar
I wanted to touch your stubble
I wanted you, I wanted you
I was falling into trouble
