Just Another Day, a poem

Just Another Day

You hugged her
Then later said,
It’s just another day

You came to see her!
She didn’t even ask, but before you left,
“I’ll have to block you, you know?”

You picked her up
And held her close
But it was just another day, to you

“I can’t believe how much I like looking at you.”
Words from your lips
On just another day

You kissed her on a gravel road
Your palms on either side of her face
It was just another day

You held her car door open
“I love you,” you said.
She was in shock

“Am I going to be the only one to admit my feelings?”
Words from your lips
On just another day

“What will get you to straddle me?”
You came to see her, again
It was just another day, to you

“I’ve not let on how tough this is.
You turn me on more than anyone else has in my entire life.”
She received this on just another day.

You told her, “The real power is…
if I didn’t show up, I’d be sad I didn’t see you..
but in my mind, it’s another day.”

And one day,
She realized,
She was just a fantasy you wanted to live out.

And one day, it clicked
The back-and-forth ended
She decided to stop giving you, just another day.
